Mercedes has no plans to buy the team's stake from Ineos

Mercedes has denied rumors about its intention to buy a stake in the Formula 1 team from chemical giant Ineos. Since 2021, the owners of the Mercedes team in equal proportion are three parties - Daimler, Ineos and team principal Toto Wolff. However, the British publication Telegraph Sport recently reported that at the end of last year between the parties were in tense negotiations on the buyout of Ineos' share and the company's withdrawal from the project. Indirect confirmation of the cooling of relations between the partners was yesterday's presentation of Mercedes' coloring. If in previous years Ineos logos occupied a noticeable place on the car, then in 2025 their small logo is placed only on the end plates of the front fender. The official representative of Mercedes in comments to the publication Racingnews365 said that the information published in Telegraph Sport, is not true. At the same time, he confirmed the reduction in the size of Ineos stickers on the W16, but explained it not by disagreements between the parties, and the desire of the team to create additional commercial opportunities for other sponsors. The company Ineos in recent times has often hit the headlines in connection with sponsorship activities. The New Zealand Rugby Union has filed a lawsuit against Ineos for breach of sponsorship contract.
