F3: Noel Leon showed the best time on the first day of tests
Preparations for the new Formula 3 season have begun in Spain. Three-day tests started on Wednesday at the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona. Prema team rider Noel Leon showed the best time on the first day, completing a lap in the afternoon session in 1:27.711 seconds.
Today is notable for the fact that for the first time racers were able to try out a new-generation Formula 3 car. At the beginning of the morning session, the riders did not sit in the pits and immediately went to the track. Nikola Tsolov set the first lap time at 1:29.952 seconds, but his result was quickly surpassed.
The racers worked according to their programs, gradually adding more. As a result, the first three places in the morning protocol remained with the Rodin Motorsport drivers, the fastest of whom was Callum Voisin with a time of 1:27.959 seconds.
In the afternoon session, the work continued, and this time more attention was paid not only to working on the long series, but also on fast laps. The best time was shown by Noel Leon at the end of the first hour.
The first day of testing was quiet – there were no crashes and no red flags. On Thursday, Formula 3 racers will continue to work on the track.
