James Key: We managed to do everything that was planned.
On Friday, the Sauber drivers drove 104 laps for two, and in just three days of testing they covered 354 laps, which is more than 1,900 km, and the Swiss team assesses the results of their work in Bahrain positively, although there were difficulties. In particular, the team lost some time this morning as they had to fix a fluid leak from the hydraulic system of the C45 car, but the Sauber engineers and mechanics worked quite well and Gabriel Bortoleto was able to return to the track. However, this did not prevent Sauber from completing the full program of the day.
James Key, Technical Director: "The pre-season tests were generally productive, which allowed us to gather useful information and lay the foundation for preparing for the first race of the season.
We managed to complete everything that was planned for these three days, the C45 car is capable of good speed, and this was a confirmation of the efforts that the team made during the winter months.
Although today, when Gabriel was holding his final session, we lost some time due to a leak in the hydraulic system - which we managed to quickly sort out and eliminate - we were still able to complete the entire program of the day.
As always in testing, we didn't chase the results on the lap, as each team has its own priorities and its own program, so we'll have to wait for Melbourne to get a clearer picture of the balance of power."
Nico Hulkenberg (14th): "It was great to get back on track and continue working with the team, and I really enjoy studying the car in detail to figure out how to act to reach its full potential.
The tests are over, and these three days were completely devoted to working on the track. We have conducted many different checks and collected a large amount of information that remains to be analyzed. The first impressions are quite decent, although we still have a lot to figure out. We will try to prepare the car as much as possible for the first race of the season."
Gabriel Bortoleto (17th): "We had a confident pre-season test, I learned a lot about the car and the team, and overall I think we all did a productive job. The next two weeks will be devoted to a detailed analysis of the information collected and work on fine-tuning in order to understand what exactly is already working well enough, and in which areas it is necessary to tighten up.
The first race of the season in Australia is very close, and we will continue to work hard to prepare for it as best we can. I would like to thank the team for all the efforts made during these three days by both the specialists at the Hinville base and the test team – it was just great to cooperate with everyone."
