Sainz: I don't know where to find the last couple of tenths yet.

Carlos Sainz completed the tests yesterday, and on Friday, Alex Albon, his team-mate, will drive the Williams car. On Sky Sports, the Spanish racer commented on the results of his first tests at the wheel of a Williams FW47.

Carlos Sainz: "I had a lot to do during the winter. In January and February, I spent a lot of time at the team's base in Grove, because there were a lot of things to figure out, get to know a lot of people, and work with Mercedes motorists.…

There was probably more to do this winter than usual. But I think we did our homework pretty well and were able to prepare for the season as well as possible, given that I only worked on the tests for a day and a half.

I can see that the team is really motivated, everyone is in a fighting spirit, everyone is striving to make progress, and a good start to our joint work was laid back at the December tests in Abu Dhabi. In the winter, the team demanded a lot from me, and I like it, because it means that in its quest for success, it pushes both me and itself.

My partner, Alex Albon, is one of the nicest people I've ever dealt with in the paddock. He is incredibly talented and makes every effort to keep the team moving forward. He shared with me all the information he could about the Williams car and the team's working methods, and now we will work together to bring it back to a higher level.

When it comes to driving style, I'm still figuring out the specifics of the Williams car, trying to figure out how to drive to get the right speed. To be honest, I'm still at a bit of a loss as to what I can add – will I get it at the entrance to the corners or at the exit?

That's why yesterday, when I did the last race, it was important for me to figure it out. When I attack, I manage to show a decent enough time, but I still don't know where to find that missing last couple of tenths. That's what I have to figure out in the first five or six races of the season."
