Berman: In Melbourne, we'll find out how the season will turn out for us.
During the pre-season tests in Bahrain, Oliver Berman was unable to assess the speed of a car with an empty tank. The British driver of the Haas team expects that the team will be able to fully assess the competitiveness of the VF-25 car at the Australian Grand Prix.
"I am very interested to know how the car behaves with an empty tank, because due to some problems I was unable to find out during the tests," Berman said on Thursday in Melbourne. – It will be an interesting experience, because it was not easy for me to come to terms with the fact that I did not manage to work on a short series of laps in the tests.
Albert Park is a new track for me, and it's very different from the track in Bahrain, so it's important to understand how the car behaves here. I think at this stage we will learn a lot about how the season will turn out for us. If we get to the first position right away, and the balance and feeling of the car are as good as in Bahrain, then it will be a sign that our car is good enough on any type of track.
The weather is expected to be quite hot this weekend, which was not the case in Bahrain. I hope that I will be happy with the balance from the first lap and we can start fine-tuning the car right away."
Oliver Berman participated in three Grands Prix last year, but it is the stage in Melbourne that he considers his full-fledged debut in Formula 1: "I am glad that I had the opportunity to participate in races earlier, but I treat this stage as my debut. My family flew to Melbourne to support me, and it's great.
I am sure that due to the fact that I have already gone to the start, I will have less doubts, but I am sure that as soon as the starting lights go out, I will experience the same feelings as always. I'm looking forward to the start."
