Ayo Komatsu: Pretty bad day

According to the results of Friday's training sessions at the Australian track, both Haas F1 drivers were on the last lines of the protocol, and Oliver Berman did not show any time at all, because he crashed the car at the exit of turn 10 during the first session, and the team did not have time to restore his VF-25 until the end of the second.

In just two practice sessions, Okon completed 47 laps, while Berman completed only 12.

Oliver Berman (without time): "I missed all the work on the track today and that's why I'm upset. The team did their best to get me out of the pits, but there wasn't enough time.

I made a small mistake in turn 10, which caused the car to shift slightly to the curb, where the surface was very uneven, and unfortunately I spun around.

There were some difficulties with the car, but I felt confident – I was probably too confident. But overall, I was relatively comfortable, and I was gradually picking up speed. However, I will still have time for the third practice session before tomorrow's qualifying. But for now, it seems to me that my race will be like a lottery."

Esteban Ocon (19th): "The training didn't go very smoothly. But for the first day of the new season, it's normal when everything goes like this. Still, we need to keep working to get the settings right and get the most out of the car.

I was not happy with the balance of the car and the feeling behind the wheel, and although we made a step forward in the break between sessions, we need to keep moving on. I hope we will succeed in the course of the third training session..."

Ayo Komatsu, Team leader: "Today is a pretty bad day, and these are not the results we expected. Oliver crashed the car in the first session, so we couldn't figure out the reasons that prevented us from reaching a competitive level. So we have to take a step forward tonight, and then do our best tomorrow."
