Alonso explained his accident with gravel on the trajectory

In Australia, the Aston Martin team scored eight points thanks to Lance Stroll's sixth place. His teammate Fernando Alonso did not reach the finish line, crashing his car on the thirty-second lap at the exit of turn six. The two-time world champion explained the incident with gravel on the trajectory.

Lance Stroll (6th): "It's a very difficult race, so it's nice to get a lot of points for the team. Of course, I'm happy.

We knew that at the start it was important to just stay on track and then switch to the right tyres at the right moment. That's exactly what we did. In conditions of changeable weather, it is important to maintain a balance of risk, avoid mistakes and pilot steadily.

The team made a great strategic decision by switching me to intermediate tyres at the end of the race. They acted in accordance with the weather forecast, and this decision allowed them to win back several positions.

The car is not as fast as we would like it to be, so the team will continue to refine it. But more importantly, we've made the most of our opportunities today."

Fernando Alonso: "It was a difficult race in the rain, and I was a little unlucky at the end. I was fighting in the top ten and I felt like I had a good chance.

I was driving along the usual trajectory in turn six, but there was gravel there, which caused me to lose control of the car.

The car has weaknesses that need to be fixed, but it looks like if we have a good weekend this season, we can earn points. We will make another attempt in China next week."
