Lando Norris: Amazing and challenging race!

Lando Norris started the season with a victory by winning the Australian Grand Prix, which was held in the most difficult weather conditions, which predetermined the chaotic nature of the race. But the British McLaren driver coped with them better than all rivals, including better than Oscar Piastri, his team-mate.

Lando Norris (1st): "An amazing and difficult race! Especially when Max Verstappen was driving behind me! I attacked with full force, especially in the last two laps. I'm not going to lie, I had to get a little nervous, but it's great that we started the season like this.

The difficulties were also related to the fact that I was flying off the highway, drove on gravel, and the car was damaged. In general, the conditions were difficult, but it was interesting and fun! The situation was unpredictable, but this time we did everything right and brought the race to victory.

We made a lot of mistakes last year, but we learned from them. In 2024, when the races followed a similar pattern, we missed out on winning at Silverstone and Canada. But today we won, but this is only the first stage of the 24th, and it is important that we managed to cope with the pressure, with Max, with Oscar, although for this we had to attack from start to finish.

Despite all the difficulties, I can be praised for not making too many mistakes or at least avoiding a mistake that would have caused me to miss something. And I must pay tribute to McLaren: I thank the team for giving me such a wonderful car!"

Oscar Piastri (9th): "I am very upset. I felt that on every lap, with the exception of one, I was driving very confidently – of course, it's a pity that in the end I couldn't show a result that would match this.

However, I have no one to blame but myself. I was unlucky because I got stuck on the side of the road, but it was my own actions that led to this. In general, there is something to be upset about.

But the other 56 laps went well, and it seemed to me that I was able to show a good pace in any conditions. This experience was really useful and positive, but it's just a pity that we couldn't show a better result."
