Oscar Piastri: I deserve this victory!

      Oscar Piastri had a great time at the Chinese Grand Prix: starting from pole position, he confidently brought the race to victory. Lando Norris finished second, giving McLaren a winning double.

      Oscar Piastri (1st): "I hope this will be the beginning of my fight for the title. In general, the weekend as a whole is going great for me, from start to finish. The car was working fine, although today I was somewhat surprised by the performance of the rubber – the behavior of the tires has noticeably changed.

      I'm just proud of the team's work this weekend, it allowed us to win the double. In my opinion, after what happened last week, I deserved this victory and I'm very happy!

      It was still a bit difficult to ride on medium-hard tires, but they worked much more efficiently than yesterday, and the Hard tires generally performed better than could have been expected. In any case, it's better than we expected.

      We managed to cover the entire Grand Prix distance with a single pit stop, and it was a surprise for us, but a pleasant surprise! So it wasn't an easy race, but I'm proud of how our team handled everything this weekend.

      Thank you to the fans for such fervent support, and although there are mostly Lewis Hamilton fans in the stands, we hope that by next year we will be able to convert them to their faith and they will become McLaren fans!"

      Lando Norris (2nd): "There were several funny moments during the race. I could say that I was hoping that the start would go exactly the way it went, so everything worked out as it should in the first corner. Then George Russell beat me at the pit stop, and I was a little nervous, but our pace was already much better in the second leg of the race.

      In general, it was a difficult race, because the rubber had to be protected. But I don't think many people expected to pass it with a single pit stop, and it's good that we succeeded. Oscar drove great and was fast the whole race. I tried to get close to him, but in the end it didn't work out.

      It doesn't matter now, because he deserves this victory, because he's been driving great all weekend. I'm happy with the second result, and thanks to the winning double, we scored a lot of points for the team. This is how we wanted the Chinese Grand Prix to be held, and we are very happy.

      However, the situation with the brakes was frightening – it's a nightmare for any racer! If I have nightmares at night, it's that the brakes on the car are missing. I lost from three to four seconds in the last laps, it was scary for me, but somehow we survived. So we are happy with the final result and will try to repeat it at the next stage."
