Christian Horner: We're going to get ahead of McLaren.

During the Chinese Grand Prix, Max Verstappen repeated the idea several times that the RB21 car was inferior in speed to its rivals. The head of Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, does not agree with this assessment and believes that the balance of power will change every weekend depending on the specifics of a particular track.

At the same time, Horner admitted that the team is still inferior to McLaren, but the gap is minimal, and Red Bull hopes to eliminate it with the help of upcoming updates.

Christian Horner: "I think all these conversations [about the balance of power] are subjective and depend on what kind of day you had. Max was catching up with the Ferrari racers and overtook one of them. Yes, at the moment McLaren is the benchmark for everyone, as they won the first two races, but we are going to catch up with them and get ahead of them.

We have quite a decent basis for further work. We lost 0.17 seconds of pole time, and in the second leg of the race we were as fast as the McLaren drivers. The team knows in which areas the car needs to be improved, and we have already developed a plan to upgrade the RB21.

We are paying attention to new products that will allow us to gain lap time and put more pressure on McLaren. They're ahead, but they're not that far ahead."
