Rumors: Colapinto will replace Duane before the Imola stage.
Jack Duane started the Formula 1 season realizing that at any moment he could be replaced by the reserve Alpine racer Franco Colapinto. According to rumors, the team management gave the Australian five stages to prove himself.
Two of them have already passed – in the first, Jack crashed the car, and in the second, he earned four penalty points for colliding with Gabriel Bortoleto in the sprint and for pushing Isaac Hajjar off the track in the race. Against the background of such results, there was renewed talk in the press about replacing Duane with Colapinto.
ESPN sources report that the Argentine driver will become Pierre Gasly's team-mate before the start of the European phase of the season. The first European race of the year will be held in Imola, Italy, on May 18. No other dates are given, but if we assume that Duane really has five Grands Prix at his disposal, then Colapinto can be expected to drive the Alpine at the sixth stage of the season in Miami in early May.
It's looking like the three races in April in Japan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will be crucial for Jack Duane's future career.
