Mick Schumacher hopes to compete not only in the WEC
Mick Schumacher expected to return to Formula 1 in 2025, but he failed to reach an agreement with any of the teams. The German racer continues his career in the World Endurance Racing Championship, but is ready to consider participating in other series.
Mick Schumacher: "This year I tried to focus 100% on my performances in the WEC, giving up the role of a reserve driver in Formula 1. Thanks to this decision, I have more options, and if a new opportunity arises, I will be free [from the contract in Formula 1] and will be able to accept it.
I don't know yet what all this will lead to. As long as I'm determined to keep waiting, we'll see what happens to me next. I think I'm still too young to run only eight races in a season. Therefore, I hope that I will have the opportunity to compete somewhere else, not just in the WEC, although, of course, right now all my attention is on this series, and I want to succeed.
I hope that the choice I have to make will be the best one to achieve my goals. If there is an opportunity to return to Formula 1, I will not say no, but if there is a good opportunity to compete somewhere else, then I will also consider it. I will not rush to make a decision."
