Arnoux suggests that Alonso's F1 career is 'approaching its conclusion.'
"A well-known former Formula 1 driver believes Fernando Alonso is approaching the end of his career. Rene Arnoux, a previous Ferrari driver like Alonso, expressed that the 43-year-old Spaniard was 'one of the biggest disappointments' at the recent Chinese GP. 'When he’s not competing closely with (Lance) Stroll, that says a lot,' the 76-year-old Frenchman shared with La Gazzetta dello Sport. 'I think he is getting close to the end of his career.' Although two-time champion Alonso is currently contracted with Aston Martin until 2026, there is speculation that Honda will endeavor to bring Yuki Tsunoda to the Silverstone-based team, potentially offering significant financial incentives. It is also rumored that Aston Martin is extending substantial offers to Max Verstappen. In response to Arnoux's remarks about Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, who is also in his 40s, has recently criticized the prevalent negativity in the current era. Frederic Vasseur, Hamilton's Ferrari boss, concurs. 'We must acknowledge that some of the criticism has been very severe,' he mentioned to L’Equipe. 'To claim that Lewis is exhausted or finished is quite harsh and also untrue.'"
