If you’re a collector of Formula 1 and IndyCar items, you may want to sit down to avoid fainting from this news. The Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is set to begin selling its historic racing memorabilia, rare artifacts (calling Dr. Jones), and even components from iconic F1 cars. HRC's newly established memorabilia division will officially kick off at Monterey Car Week in August, where it will host its inaugural auction.

The first HRC auction will certainly start with excitement. Up for bid in Monterey will be components from the very V10 engines that powered Ayrton Senna’s and Gerhard Berger’s F1 cars during the 1990 season. The original RA100E engine has been completely taken apart by its original builders, and its internal parts will be sold in display cases accompanied by certificates of authenticity, ensuring you can demonstrate to your partner that you didn’t spend a fortune on scrap parts. Items available for purchase will include pistons, camshafts, connecting rods, and cam covers, among others.

However, Honda won’t just be offering F1 memorabilia or modern gear. Some parts will come from MotoGP bikes that raced in the Isle of Man in the 1950s, as well as race cars from the 1960s. While many of these vehicles are showcased at Japan’s Motegi and Suzuka circuits, they will still be kept up with period-appropriate spare parts. So, don’t worry—if you buy something that was once in a classic race car, you won’t be harming an exhibit.

“We aim to create a valuable business that allows fans who appreciate F1, MotoGP, and various other racing events to engage with Honda’s racing history since the 1950s,” stated HRC President Koji Watanabe. “Our goal is to give fans a chance to own a piece of Honda’s racing heritage, and this is not meant to be a one-off project, but rather an ongoing venture that we will nurture and expand.”

I’m sure these parts will come with a hefty price tag, making it challenging for the average Honda racing enthusiast to afford a piston from Senna’s F1 car or a signed fuel tank from a MotoGP bike. Nonetheless, it's exciting to see Honda making these historical items available for those who appreciate them. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to sell a kidney and make some room in my garage.
