Jack Duane: My goal is to earn points in Japan
After two races of the season, Alpine has no points earned. Team drivers Pierre Gasly and Jack Duane expect to open an account at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix.
Pierre Gasly: "After two difficult races at the beginning of the season, where there were opportunities that could only be taken advantage of, I am looking forward to returning to the track and starting the first series of the season.
Of course, I am disappointed by the disqualification in Shanghai for a technical violation, especially considering the finish just outside the top ten, but we intend to win back in Japan. I like this country, and I've known it well since playing SuperFormula.
Suzuki is one of the greatest tracks in Formula 1, and the "eski" of the first sector is one of the best sections among all the tracks of the season. They are fast and technical, and they put cars and racers to the real test. The fans in Japan are unique, which makes the stage even more special."
Jack Duane: "It's great to have a week off and regroup after a difficult start to the season for the team. Pierre and I spent some time at the base, evaluating the performances in the first two stages, and preparing for the upcoming series, which will begin in Japan.
I'm a big fan of the local cuisine and culture, so I'd love to make a stop in Tokyo to experience the local atmosphere.
I especially like Suzuki. I used to race it in Asian Formula 3, and now for the first time I will get behind the wheel of Formula 1, which will be a challenge on a high-speed track where a lot of risk is followed by a lot of reward.
Rio will do the first training session, and I'll get back behind the wheel in the second session. He has a lot of experience on this track, so it will be useful to use some of his knowledge. The goal for this weekend is to make the most of it and score some important points for the team."
