Nico Hulkenberg: Do you feel the speed in Suzuka?
The weekend in Suzuka will be Jonathan Wheatley's first as Sauber team principal.…
Mattia Binotto, Operations and Technical Director: "The first races gave us a clear understanding of what needs to be improved. Melbourne and Shanghai have shown that we have the potential to fight for points. The weekend in China was more challenging, but valuable for gathering information and learning.
The Suzuka circuit requires precision and confidence in high-speed corners, and it's important to do everything right from the very beginning of the weekend. There is a series of three races in a row ahead, in which stability will be the key factor. The team is working hard both on the track and at the Hinville base, and we are fully focused on moving forward together."
Jonathan Wheatley, Team Principal: "After meeting with the staff at the Hinville base, I am pleased to join the Suzuka team for our first race. We are starting to work on our plans for this and next seasons."
Nico Hulkenberg: "You really feel the speed in Suzuka. This is a fast, technical and demanding track where you enjoy driving a clean lap. I've always enjoyed racing at Suzuka, and the Japanese fans are some of the best in the world.
After the first two races, there are also positive aspects, now we know what we need to improve in order to use this experience to achieve stable, competitive results."
Gabriel Bortoleto: "The first race weekends helped me gain experience, and I think it will be the same in Suzuka. I've always wanted to race on this track, which is challenging, interesting and has a long history – especially for Brazilians.
I've been training on the simulator and I'm waiting for the opportunity to try out the track behind the wheel of a real car. Now I know what it takes to complete the race distance and adapt to different conditions, and I'm progressing with each session. I'm continuing to learn, I'm improving my speed, and I'm ready to take any chance. A series of three races in a row is not easy, but I am looking forward to this challenge and I hope to make progress over these few races."
