Formula E: Lola and Yamaha to continue cooperation

Lola Cars and Yamaha Motor will continue their technical cooperation in the coming years as Formula E moves to next-generation GEN4 vehicles.

The parties agreed to join forces and develop a power plant for the 13th season of the World Electric Car Racing Championship, i.e. 2026-2027, when cars should become even more efficient - use less energy, but speeds should increase.

Lola Cars has previously confirmed its intention to remain in Formula E until 2030, along with Nissan, Jaguar, Porsche and Maserati, and now the future prospects of this British company's alliance with Yamaha have become clear.

Til Bechtolschmaier, President of Lola Cars: "Working with Yamaha Motor to develop powertrains for the Lola Yamaha ABT team, which it already uses in Formula E, has been a mutually beneficial and positive experience.

We have already confirmed our commitment to GEN4, and I am pleased that Yamaha Motor will continue this journey into the world of electric racing with us. This company has become an ideal partner for Lola Cars, and together we will continue to promote technological innovation in motorsport."

This weekend, Miami will host the fifth stage of the 11th Formula E season, and so far Lola remains the only team in the electric series with no points at all. It is supported by veteran Formula E champion of 2017, 40-year-old Brazilian Lucas di Grassi and debutant Zane Malloni, a racing driver from the island of Barbados.
