F3: Rafael Camara starts from pole position for the second time in the season

Championship leader Rafael Camara showed the best time in Formula 3 qualifying in Bahrain. Together with him, Rodin Motorsport driver Callum Voisin starts from the front row in Sunday's race.

As soon as the stopwatch started counting down the 30-minute session, the riders immediately took to the track. After completing two warm-up laps, they began to make quick attempts. Roman Bilinsky was the first to set the benchmark, completing a lap in 1:52.030 s. His result did not stay at the head of the protocol for long – a large group of riders completed their laps faster, and after the first attempt, James Wharton turned out to be the leader with a score of 1:50.875 s.

After a short pause for a tire change, the riders returned for a second attempt fifteen minutes before the end of the session. The young pilots again drove through two warm-up laps, after which they began to attack. A large group of riders immediately improved Wharton's time, and Voisin was the leader of the second attempt with 1:49.882 s.

For the decisive third attempt, the riders left six minutes before the end of qualifying. Voisin was able to improve his time, but Rafael Camara drove an even better lap (1:49.214 s) and secured pole position at the end of the second qualifying of the season.

Charlie Wurz rose to the third place. Christian Ho showed exactly the same time as Wurz (1:49.618 s), but he completed his lap later, so he placed himself on the fourth line in the protocol.

As in the first stage of the season in Melbourne, Rafael Camara starts from pole position in Sunday's race. The starting grid of the sprint is reversible – the riders who took the first twelve places will start tomorrow in reverse order. Thus, Joshua Dufek starts from pole position on Saturday. Martinius Stenshorn will start the race with him from the front row.
