Pierre Gasly: The team needs this result
Pierre Gasly qualified fifth in Bahrain, which was the best result for Alpine in 2025. After the penalty that Kimi Antonelli received, Pierre regained one position and starts fourth.
His teammate Jack Duane qualified eleventh. For an Australian driver, this is the best starting position of his career.
Pierre Gasly (5th): "It's a very good qualification, the team needs this result. I am very happy with the result and the speed.
I have to say that I had some problems at the beginning of qualifying. I didn't feel comfortable enough in the first part – because of the low grip, the car was constantly sliding. But in the second session, we managed to unlock the potential of the tires. In the final, when I finished the last lap, I knew it was going to be special. The fact that I ended up in the top five and didn't concede much pole time was a pleasant surprise.
Great work by the whole team, but now we have to focus on Sunday's race. Rivals in fast cars start behind. I'll try to fight them, but we know that the goal is to score points."
Jack Duane (11th): "I have mixed emotions after qualifying, although most of the evening was very positive. I'm starting the race from the best position of the season.
In the first part, I managed to put the circle together, and in the second, I got almost everything out of the car. I think the tyres were not in optimal condition during the last attempt – I warmed them up too quickly on the exit lap, and therefore I was unable to reach their full potential on the last fastest lap. Nevertheless, there were a lot of positive things, and I learned a lot for the future.
It's going to be a long race with high rubber degradation. Starting from eleventh place means that I'm close to the points, so let's see what we can come up with with a strategy. I will try to finish in the top ten."
