Madrid is certainly still on track to be part of the Formula 1 calendar. The Spanish capital holds a long-term agreement to host a grand prix on the newly named 'Madring' street circuit starting in 2026. Despite reports of delays that have postponed the start of construction, which has yet to begin, Madrid's mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida informed Telemadrid on Monday that construction is expected to commence within weeks. "We have already issued the tender for the construction of the circuit," he stated. "We will provide the license immediately after Easter, so the work should, in principle, start in May to align with the 2026 calendar."
