Domenicali has concerning news regarding the future of F1 in Imola.

Stefano Domenicali has concerning news regarding the Formula 1 race at Imola. The Italian track was reinstated on the calendar during the sport's covid crisis, and F1 CEO Domenicali mentioned on Rai radio: "I remember how Imola supported us during a very challenging time. When we needed to find new venues, they responded promptly with great enthusiasm and the capability of the entire city."

However, the circumstances have changed as Domenicali is now facing significant interest from potential race organizers willing to pay large sums for Formula 1's global expansion. "In the upcoming months, we will have to make this choice," he stated. "From a human perspective, it will be challenging, but I must fulfill an international role that confronts me with numerous requests from emerging nations that could facilitate F1's growth. It's a decision I will soon need to make definitively."

The Italian was specifically asked if Imola could continue to coexist on a calendar that already includes a race in Italy at the renowned Monza venue for the foreseeable future. "Italy has always played, and will continue to play, a crucial role in F1, even going forward," commented Domenicali. "Nevertheless, it is becoming increasingly challenging to hold two grands prix in the same country due to the rising interest in our sport. It will be difficult for the current situation to persist for an extended period."

Domenicali was also queried about his perspective on Lewis Hamilton’s ongoing difficulties in adapting to Ferrari. "Winning right away is not straightforward," he replied. "I have faith in his determination and ability to develop alongside the team—I want to be optimistic. However, it’s certainly not easy. Additionally, (Charles) Leclerc is an exceptional driver who aims to prove himself as the strongest. Yet, these are also remarkable aspects of the Ferrari team that positively affect the entire Formula 1."
