John Elkann: Ferrari is ready to take on a new challenge
It can be assumed that in the near future there will be even more Ferrari fans: at a meeting with the company's shareholders in Amsterdam, John Elkann announced a new project, and it is related to yachting.
It was already mentioned in Maranello at the beginning of last year, but now the project is entering an active phase.
"Like us today, Enzo Ferrari has always been ready to take on a new challenge," said the president of Ferrari. "We are preparing to enter the world of yachting: striving to achieve maximum speeds at sea opens up new opportunities for us to innovate in technology and environmental sustainability.
We are confident that this knowledge will inspire us to make new achievements in motorsport and the production of sports sports cars."
Renowned Italian yachtsman Giovanni Soldini will be responsible for the new project, and under his leadership, Ferrari will prepare for its debut in the America's Cup, and the newest yacht, which, of course, will be dominated by shades of red, is scheduled to be built in 2026.
In his speech, Elkann only indirectly touched on the topic of motorsport, referring to the victories in Formula 1, which allowed Scuderia to claim the Constructors' Cup until the very end of the season, and another triumph in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
"2024 was the year when we experienced many memorable moments, which we recall with pride," he said. "Moments like this make up the historical legacy of Ferrari, but they also define the future, because we are constantly striving for progress, for new achievements and trying to push the boundaries of what is possible.
The F80 hypercar is the next step into the world of electric technology, and this year we plan to introduce our Ferrari electric car. We remain resolutely committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030."
