Alonso fears he won't be able to score points in 2025.
After five stages of the season, Fernando Alonso remains one of four drivers with no points earned. After the race in Jeddah, in which he finished eleventh, the Aston Martin driver expressed concern that he would not be able to earn points at all this season.
Fernando Alonso: "I gave my all on the track, but it was difficult to maintain the same pace as the competitors ahead. Our car just isn't fast enough.
Eleventh place is the worst position you can finish in, but we have to get used to it. It will be difficult to earn points this year.
In Jeddah, I finished eleventh due to the fact that Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly got off on the first lap, and Liam Lawson got a penalty. Otherwise, I would have finished fourteenth. We are still very far from scoring points."
Commenting on the near collision with Gabriel Bortoleto in the first corner, Alonso said: "We were close to a collision. I decided to choose an outer radius, but it was risky.
Obviously, he didn't see me, and I had to take action in the first corner to avoid crashing. I didn't fit into the turn, so I immediately returned his position to avoid a penalty."
