The FIA has adjusted the sports regulations
Before the Miami Grand Prix, the FIA adjusted the Formula 1 sports regulations after an unusual incident that occurred in the first race of the season in Melbourne involving Oliver Berman and Max Verstappen.
In Australia, Berman was a lap behind when a safety car pulled onto the track. According to the rules, Berman was allowed to return to the lap with the others before the race resumed, but at that moment Haas decided to call their driver for a pit stop, after which Oliver drove onto the track right in front of Verstappen, who was in third place.
Oliver was allowed to return to the lap again, but before the Miami Grand Prix, changes were made to paragraph 55.14 of the sports regulations, according to which the race director can now close the exit from the pit lane at his discretion when the peloton passes by, led by a safety car.
This way, it will prevent a repeat of situations in the future when lap laggards return to the track in the leader group.
