Ayrton Senna's helmet, which he used in the 1992 season, sold at auction for a record amount.
At the RM Sotherby's auction, which took place from April 23 to 28, a helmet in recognizable coloring found a new buyer for almost a million dollars, more precisely– for 720,000 pounds (966,449 US dollars).
The helmet was made by the Japanese company Shoei and is a lightweight version, 100-200 grams lighter than the standard X-4 model.
The previous record was held by Charles Leclair, whose helmet, used at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, was sold at a charity auction for $352,315.
