      "Expectations are currently quite high."

Lewis Hamilton has been putting in significant effort to get accustomed to the 2025 Ferrari, as reported by Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport. The seven-time world champion has struggled to adjust to his car from Maranello after spending his entire career with Mercedes-powered teams, including Mercedes and McLaren. The gap between him and Charles Leclerc is substantial enough that some speculate about a potential early retirement for the 40-year-old.

"If he truly decides to step away now, it would be very premature," former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher shared with Sky Deutschland. "I can hardly believe it. Expectations are elevated now. Lewis needs to give it a shot, and he will likely succeed. He must not give in."

Despite appearing confused and quite disheartened in Saudi Arabia, Hamilton has dedicated extra time in Ferrari’s driver simulator in preparation for the Miami race this weekend. He "did not limit himself to the usual pre-grand prix simulations," reported La Gazzetta dello Sport’s technical correspondent Paolo Filisetti.

Following the Jeddah race, Hamilton "honestly stated that he had no particular complaints about the car, but rather about himself, as he has yet to shed the habits ingrained in him during his 12 years with Mercedes," Filisetti noted. The journalist remarked that Hamilton’s simulator program after Saudi Arabia was "intense," coupled with "discussions with engineers to carefully analyze the issues faced in previous races and to find solutions promptly."

Typically, most pre-race simulator work before a sprint weekend—such as Miami—is concentrated on setup, given the limited practice time prior to the first qualifying session. However, Filisetti indicated that Hamilton’s pre-Miami preparations went "well beyond the norm," involving "comparative tests with particular focus on the performance of the power unit, especially during braking."

"It is essential to highlight that Hamilton’s response to the current challenging situation is to work diligently," he added. "It is also true, and Lewis has reiterated this multiple times, that since the introduction of the current ground effect cars, he has perceived a less consistent and solid feeling with the vehicles."

"However, it is equally correct that never before has the performance disparity with his teammate been so striking," Filisetti concluded.
