Briatore: Oakes left the team for personal reasons.
The unexpected departure of Oliver Oakes from the post of Alpine team leader suggested that the reason was a disagreement with advisor Flavio Briatore. Oakes allegedly resigned because he did not want to replace Jack Duane with Franco Colapinto.
On Wednesday afternoon, Flavio Briatore released a statement saying that such rumors have nothing to do with reality.
"A lot has been said over the past 24 hours, mistakenly linking Oliver's decision to perceived differences or the fact that we have different views," Briatore said in a statement. – These assumptions are completely false and far from the truth.
Oliver and I have a very good relationship, and we had long-term ambitions to lead the team forward together.
We respect Oliver's request for resignation, so we accepted it. The reasons are not related to the team and are personal in nature.
I will continue to get more and more involved in the team's business, along with the strong leadership we already have. We will work hard to improve our positions this season and prepare for 2026."
