Juan Manuel Correa will continue his career in the USA
Juan Manuel Correa is a racer with a difficult fate. The Ecuadorian started his career in karting, raced in the USA, but dreamed of Formula 1 and moved to Europe. Correa competed in Formula 3 and Formula 2 with varying success, attracting the interest of Formula 1 teams as well – he participated in the Lotus and Sauber youth programs.
In 2019, Correa suffered a fracture of both legs and a spinal injury in a Formula 2 race at the Spa circuit - Antoine Hubert died after colliding with his car at a speed of 218 km/h.
After the accident, Correa was in a coma, underwent two dozen operations – his legs were pieced together, but the strong-minded young racer was able to recover and returned to racing. He competed in Formula 3 and Formula 2 again, and now he has decided to return to the USA.
Today it became known that the 25-year-old Ecuadorian has signed a contract with HMD Motorsports to participate in individual Indy NXT races and two oval tests in preparation for a full-fledged next season in the American series.
