Elbon: I was always confident that we would make progress.
Alex Albon talked about how Williams was able to achieve a more significant increase in the speed of the car than predicted based on calculations made on the simulator.
After six stages of the season, the team has 37 points, and it occupies the 5th place in the Constructors' Cup - more than 80% of these points were earned by Elbon, who finished in the top ten in five of the already held Grands Prix, with the exception of the race in Bahrain.
According to Alex, such progress, especially noticeable compared to last season, when Williams earned only 17 points for the whole year, does not surprise him.
"I was always quite confident that the team would progress, because I knew what direction of development had been chosen," Elbon quotes RacingNews365. "I saw the areas where changes would take place, and I knew what ideas were at the heart of these changes, because I understood what shortcomings were characteristic of last year's car.
When we tested the FW47 on the simulator, it definitely felt like the car had improved. And on the track, we were able to achieve an even higher pace from her than the simulator predicted. This is a rather rare and very positive phenomenon – it simply indicates that we have correctly identified the causes of chassis deficiencies by applying the principle of "reverse engineering".
We understand the advantages of our car, and this will help us make further progress next year. But when I analyze the difference in laps last year and this season, I see that it is very significant."
