Ralf Schumacher: I understand Flavio Briatore's decision.

Changes in the composition of the teams during the season do not occur very often, although there is nothing unusual about this. Basically, this approach is typical for Red Bull, but, for example, last year at Williams they decided to replace Logan Sargent with Franco Colapinto after 15 stages, and the young Argentine drove in such a way that they immediately started talking about him.

And now Colapinto, who was temporarily "loaned" to Alpine by the British team, will replace Jack Duane. According to official information, he will hold the next five races for the Renault factory team – this should be understood in such a way that Flavio Briatore will then make the following decision. What it will be depends on Franco's results. Duane will go to the bench.

However, Alpine F1 has been in a fever lately, and Oliver Oakes, who was appointed head only last summer, left for personal reasons. Now Briatore himself is in charge of everything, who has extensive, albeit somewhat ambiguous, experience in leading the team from Enstone.

Ralf Schumacher, a former Formula 1 racer who now works as an expert with Sky Deutschland TV channel, has his own opinion about the personnel changes at Alpine.:

"I have to admit that Jack Duane is, of course, a nice guy, but he's not good enough for Formula 1. He makes a lot of mistakes, although he has worked a lot on tests, and there are also questions about his psychological training.

We saw his futile attempts to overtake, which only led to accidents. I also remember Suzuki, where he thought that the first turn could be taken with the DRS open, like in a simulator. It is clear that these are very serious mistakes. Accordingly, I understand Flavio Briatore's decision.

As for Franco Colapinto, I'm happy for him. We saw last year that he looked good next to Alex Albon at Williams. However, at the end of the season, he had three accidents and crashed cars. Anyway, let's see what he's capable of. I think Briatore believes in him – also, don't forget that Colapinto brought a lot of money to Alpine."
