Hamilton's father will head the FIA youth program.
Anthony Hamilton, the father of the seven-time world champion, will receive an official appointment to the FIA. In June, the federation will hold a conference in Macau to announce a new program to support young drivers, and Hamilton Sr. is to lead it.
Information about this appeared in the London Times newspaper, after which an FIA representative confirmed its correctness, talking to a Reuters journalist in the paddock of the Imola circuit.
The new FIA program is aimed at creating an enabling environment for the development of young karting and entry-level racing drivers, and is designed to protect young people from unethical actions by managers and sports agents.
It was Mohammed bin Sulayem who personally decided to entrust Anthony Hamilton with the position of program manager, since he already advises the FIA president on youth work.
Ben Sulayem is expected to run again in December for the upcoming presidential elections of the federation, in which Carlos Sainz, a two-time world rally champion and the father of the Spanish Williams racer, also intends to participate.
Each of the candidates must name reputable people whom he is going to entrust to become vice-presidents of the federation, and since Anthony Hamilton will join Ben Sulayem's team, therefore, his name will no longer appear on the list of supporters of other possible candidates.
Lewis Hamilton, who has been driving for Ferrari since this year, does not have the easiest relationship with ben Sulayem, he has repeatedly criticized certain decisions and statements of the FIA president, but he is only related to his father, and 65-year-old Anthony has long been excluded from the circle of his managers.
According to Sky Sports, Hamilton Sr., who has been working with the current FIA president for more than a year and a half, has a very positive attitude, he is truly motivated and ready to lead the federation's new program, called the Young Driver Development Pathway.
