Wolff confirms imminent contract extension with Russell
George Russell's contract with Mercedes expires at the end of the season. At a press conference in Monaco, team leader Toto Wolff said that the parties had reached an agreement in principle to continue cooperation in 2026.
Toto Wolff: "There is not much time left to wait for a new contract. George and I fully understand how this is going to happen. We have one hundred percent agreement. We can't say that we're dragging out the issue, because that's not what we're doing."
With his words about Russell's contract, Toto Wolff indirectly confirmed that he was no longer trying to sign Max Verstappen for next season.
