Oliver Berman fined for losing 10 places at the start

The stewards of the Monaco Grand Prix fined Oliver Berman with the loss of ten positions at the start of the race for overtaking Carlos Sainz under red flags in the second practice session.

After reviewing the circumstances of the incident, the stewards determined that the Haas rider saw red flags, as there was a light board with red flags and a corresponding indication on the steering wheel on the track directly in front of him.

The driver confirmed that he had seen red flags, but felt that if he slowed down abruptly, he would provoke a more dangerous situation on the track. The stewards disagreed with Berman's opinion and reminded him that the rules prescribe to immediately slow down under red flags, and overtaking in such a situation is prohibited.

In addition to losing seats at the start, Berman was given two penalty points. Oliver now has four in a 12-month period. If you score twelve points, you will be disqualified for one stage.
