Max Verstappen: Ferrari has made a big step forward
Max Verstappen clocked tenth in the second practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver said that before the start of the session, the team adjusted the settings, which caused the car's behavior to change for the worse.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda showed the eleventh time and said that he had not yet found an approach to working with soft tires.
Max Verstappen (10th): "It's always difficult with traffic in Monaco. I got into dangerous situations twice today, once in the first training session and the second time in the second. The situation is not ideal, and although it's only training, both times there could have been a serious accident if I hadn't reacted quickly.
The first training session turned out to be quite positive. Before the second one, we adjusted the settings to see if it would improve the balance of the car. It seemed to me that we overdid it a bit, because I couldn't attack in the corners the way I wanted to, which caused me to lose pace.
I didn't think we would be the fastest, but we wanted to be closer to the leaders than we were in the second practice session. We could have been much closer, but the Ferraris look very fast. McLaren is a bit behind, but overall, Ferrari has made a big step forward on this track."
Yuki Tsunoda (11th): "As usual in Monaco, traffic was in the way, but it's a familiar story on this circuit. Everything is equal, and you need a little luck to put together a fast lap. Overall, everything is fine, but in the first and second practice sessions I felt some limitations on the soft tires – there was not such an increase in downforce that I expected.
Still, I managed to make a small step forward in the second session compared to the first session, but I need to get more out of the car and gain a few more tenths. There is potential, but we'll see how things develop this weekend. I hope I can do well in qualifying."
