Fernando Alonso: "You know, I will forget about all the failures of this year if I win the race in Australia in 2026. Fighting for sixth or seventh place doesn't matter – it won't change anything for me, but with the changes in the regulations next year, we hope to compete for the title. So I don't mind, even if all the races this year end in a run–off, we have other goals.
The engine problem occurred on lap 15. The ERS, the electrical part, was not working, but in Monaco the power of the power plant is not crucial, so I continued to drive at a normal pace and hoped to finish sixth. Unfortunately, it failed. Everything worked out in qualifying, but we missed our chance in the race. We need to figure out the cause of the breakdown and make sure that it doesn't happen again.
If I hadn't scored points because of lack of speed, contact with other cars, or touching the wall because of my mistakes, I would have been very upset, but I feel like I'm performing at a high level, so I'm relaxed and waiting for my chance."
