Wolff: Amendments will affect the balance of power

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff believes that the new front wing flexibility tests, which will debut this weekend, can affect the balance of power.

Back in January, the FIA warned that stricter tests on the flexibility of the front wings would be introduced at the ninth stage of the season in Barcelona – and teams must ensure that their geometry under greater load than before complies with the rules.

Toto Wolff: "Let's see how the amendments will affect the balance of power. I don't expect major changes, but it will allow us to look at the hierarchy of teams from a different angle. From what we've seen, Ferrari has chosen the most conservative approach to flexible wing covers."

If teams that actively used the flexibility of the wing cover are forced to reduce their efficiency, and Ferrari does not have to do this, this could be an advantage for the Scuderia.
