Russell: I'm tired of Alex driving like a grandmother.

George Russell received a traffic penalty in the pit lane during the Monaco race for cutting off the chicane and overtaking Alex Albon, who deliberately drove slowly to help his teammate. The Mercedes driver did not earn any points, but believes that if he had not overtaken Elbon outside the track, he would have finished below his eleventh place.

George Russell: "I was just tired of looking at the Williams rear wing for 50 laps. It's a little ironic that I got a penalty for my maneuver, but I still finished higher than if I had just continued to ride behind Alex. After overtaking, three laps were enough for me to gain time for a pit stop, and after that I was able to lead my race.

The Monaco weekend ended too early for us – we weren't fighting for anything. Finishing eleventh earns you the same amount of points as finishing twentieth.

I just wanted to enjoy Monaco. At least I enjoyed the last 25 laps of the race. Don't think I've become the new George Russell– the rebel who cuts corners. I'm just tired of watching Alex fly like a grandmother."
