Lewis Hamilton: F1 movie is very realistic

The world premiere of the F1 movie starring Brad Pitt is just over two weeks away, and fans are already looking forward to it. Lewis Hamilton is one of those who is more worried about the rental fate of the film than many, because he acted as one of the producers and advised the film crew on all racing issues.

On the eve of the premiere, the seven-time world champion told the official website of the championship about how work was going on on the film, the creators of which sought to make the most authentic canvas dedicated to modern Formula 1.

Lewis Hamilton: "We got unprecedented access to Formula 1, because filming took place during the race weekends in which APXGP, the fictional 11th championship team, participated. And the audience will certainly see that the whole film is authentic.

The footage captured during the race calendar was complemented by plans created using digital technology, and the result should be perceived by fans as quite realistic.… This was also achieved by the special location of the cameras – in part, these techniques were tested during the filming of the film Top Gun: Maverick, but here the filmmakers reached a new level.

They have developed an advanced camera system, more advanced than that used in Formula 1 during race weekends. When you watch the footage, you really feel like you're sitting behind the wheel of a racing car and speeding at an incredible speed.

I never thought I'd get to work with Brad Pitt. I'm a passionate fan of his films, we were introduced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the chief producer of F1, and when we started working on the track, I realized that Brad was very passionate about technical sports, especially motorcycle racing, and I saw that he showed natural talent behind the wheel. That was awesome!

I think he did a great job. He brought a lot of bright colors to the character of seasoned racer Sonny Hayes, his character, but also showed how his character cares about and helps a novice racer.

He and Idris Demson, who plays his partner, had to solve very difficult tasks. I think these two actors managed to feel the psychological stress we racers experience when we need to perceive information at high speeds, when multiple overloads act on your body.…

I think all this was very important to them, because it's impossible to simulate: if you haven't experienced it yourself, you won't be able to imagine it. They piloted racing cars themselves, and both really got into it, feeling what it means to be a racer. And you will see this in our film."
