Famen: The goal is to have nothing to regret on June 15th.
Preparations for the 93rd Le Mans Marathon have entered the final stages, and yesterday the first day of the official technical inspection took place in the city center on Republic Square. From this process, the organizers of the 24-hour race traditionally arranged a separate show, which always attracts a large number of people.
On Friday, half of the 62 cars of the three classes announced for launch in 2025 passed the inspection, including the hypercars of the BMW, Cadillac, Peugeot, Aston Martin and Alpine teams.
Last year, the Alpine Endurance Team, Renault's factory team, was a newcomer to the Hypercar category, and it can't be said that the debut season went smoothly, but in the fall, the crew, which includes Mick Schumacher, took to the podium for the first time. In September 2024, he and his teammates, Nicolas Lapierre and Mathieu Vacsivier, reached the podium for the first time, taking 3rd place at the end of the 6 Hours of Fuji.
This year, the son of the seven–time world champion has new teammates - Jules Gounon and Frederic Makoveki, and the No. 36 crew has finished in the top three twice in three stages of the season. The 24 Hours of Le Mans will be the fourth race of the season, and Bruno Famin, director of Alpine Motorsport, spoke about the mood of the team.
"Our team is gaining momentum, we have made significant improvements compared to last year," he said. – I think this can be seen from our results, because in the last five races we have reached the podium three times (Famen is counting down from last year's stage in Japan). We were generally in the lead at Spa, and it was wonderful.
Nevertheless, the race at Le Mans has its own peculiarities. This is an extremely difficult competition, so we must take this into account and remain realistic. We have two dozen rivals, and all of them also hope to show a good result.
So we just have to stay focused and try to avoid mistakes. If we talk about the tasks that we set for ourselves, then we have one goal: we must try to make sure that on Sunday, June 15, at 4 p.m., when the race finishes, we have nothing to regret."
Saturday is the second day of the technical inspection at Le Mans, including the hypercars of the Ferrari team, which has won this legendary marathon for two years in a row.
