The first training sessions take place at Le Mans

The tests leading up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans started today in France at the Sarthe circuit, and the comfortable weather is quite conducive to efficient work on the track.: partly cloudy, the air temperature does not exceed 21 degrees.

Under these conditions, Robert Kubica showed the best time in the first session, still driving for the AF Corse team and piloting a Ferrari 499P hypercar with tail number 83. The Polish driver completed his fastest lap in 3:27.010, 0.990 seconds ahead of Brandon Hartley, a representative of the Toyota factory team.

Earl Bamber, team mate of Jenson Button and Sebastien Bourdais in the No. 38 Team JOTA Cadillac, showed the third time. Jack Aitken, who plays for the Cadillac Whelen customer team, finished with the fourth result in the first half of the day. Felipe Drugovich rides in the same carriage with him.

Antonio Giovinazzi, the driver of the Ferrari factory team, who won Le Mans in 2023 and 2024 and does not hide his intentions to repeat the success for the third time in a row, rounded out the top five. The Ferrari AF Corse has won all three races of the WEC season so far this season, and everyone is wondering if its dominance will continue next weekend.

Shortly after the start, today's session was interrupted by yellow flags for a long time, almost 50 minutes – this happened after Luka Giotto crashed the LMP2 class sports prototype of the Polish Inter Europol Competition team quite badly, flying off the track in a Porsche turn.

The second session of the day is currently underway, which will last until 18.30 local time. Training sessions will continue on Wednesday, but fan zones will open at the circuit on Tuesday, and autograph sessions will begin at 2 p.m., which will take place not only in the pit lane of the track, but also in the center of Le Mans.
