Aston Martin will release a special version of the Valkyrie hypercar
Aston Martin has unveiled an exclusive version of the Valkyrie hypercar, which will be released in a limited edition of 10 copies and is intended only for owners of such a car to sometimes ride on race tracks during the so-called track days and enjoy experiencing a genuine sense of speed.
The fact is that this car will not be homologated, i.e. it does not meet the requirements of the technical regulations in force in the WEC, and it cannot be used in endurance races. At the same time, it will also not be possible to register it in order to drive on public roads.
According to the idea of the creators, Valkyrie LM, i.e. Le Mans, will be able to be purchased by the wealthiest clients who are engaged in motorsport at the amateur level. The differences from the Hypercar category cars are minimal: the ballast has been removed from the car and the specific electronics that the FIA uses at races have been dismantled.
In addition, the power plant's operating modes are adjusted on the car in a different way than on the certified racing version, to make it easier for amateur racers to tame this monster. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter Cosworth V12 engine, developing 697 hp, the settings of which have been slightly modified so that it can run on regular gasoline, which is sold at gas stations.
The Valkyrie LM is equipped with a seven-speed sequential semi-automatic transmission, like the "combat" hypercar, and it has a fully racing suspension.
"It is important to emphasize that the Valkyrie LM is almost identical to the racing car currently competing in the WEC and the American IMSA series, and some of the changes are minimal so that its owners can gain both experience piloting such equipment and pleasure," explained Adam Carter, head of the Aston Martin endurance racing program.
For those ten people who will be able to purchase such a car, Aston Martin is developing a special support program under which they will be able to gain access to race tracks, where during track days engineers from the British company will advise them, help them master this very specific technique, and coaches will teach them the necessary piloting techniques.
In particular, this program assumes that cars will be stored in special garages of the exclusive Club of Aston Martin owners. It is also worth adding that the company will provide each Valkyrie LM owner with all the necessary racing equipment, i.e. a helmet, a HANS system, gloves, special shoes and even fireproof underwear – all this is included in the price of the car. It is logical to ask, what is its price? They say it's "about $5 million."
The first customers will receive their cars in the 2nd quarter of 2026, and a separate ceremony will be organized for this purpose, which will take place at one of the UK race tracks.
