Stroll in 'optimal form' for Canadian GP.

"We haven’t had any genuine conversations with Aston Martin."

Lance Stroll is expected to return to his Aston Martin during this weekend's race in Canada. The 26-year-old's participation in his home event in Montreal was uncertain after he missed the Barcelona race due to a recurrence of an injury from a cycling accident in 2023. Stroll, the son of team owner Lawrence Stroll, had surgery in Spain last week, and reserve driver Felipe Drugovich has been put on standby for Canada, despite officially being scheduled for Le Mans. In fact, Drugovich is currently at Le Mans, as is Louis Deletraz, who seems to be the primary candidate to step in for Drugovich if needed to take Stroll's place.

"I’ve seen a lot of articles about it," Deletraz shared with France’s Auto Hebdo, "but on my end, there haven’t really been any conversations with Cadillac or Action Express (Racing). I suppose it’s a possibility, but I’m currently committed to an LMP2 program that I’m quite satisfied with, and it’s challenging to make a switch at this point," he continued. "I don’t anticipate being in the Cadillac for Le Mans. It’s complicated for everyone. When I commit to a project, I aim to do it properly. We prepared for this event with Action Express, and the most fair approach is to compete in this category."

In fact, recent updates from Stroll and Aston Martin's team suggest that Lance is already in good enough shape to race in Montreal this weekend. Following Drugovich, Stoffel Vandoorne is the next candidate to take over for Stroll—who is also competing at Le Mans this weekend.

"We haven’t really had any discussions with Aston Martin," the Belgian disclosed. "I believe Lance is in good health and has excellent medical support. He’ll do everything possible to be ready for the race in Canada."
