Jake Hughes tested a McLaren MCL60 in Barcelona.
Jake Hughes, a 31-year-old British racing driver, is driving for the Maserati Formula E team this year, but also continues to collaborate with McLaren as a simulator pilot.
In order for his understanding of the behavior of a real car on the track to be more complete, the team arranged tests for him in Barcelona, where Hughes piloted a MCL60, a 2023 model car. The work took place within the framework of the test program stipulated by the regulations using the technology of previous years of release (TCP).
Detailed information about exactly when and how the tests took place, what tasks Jake performed, or how many laps he drove is not provided, but the racer shared his enthusiastic impressions on social media and thanked the team.
Jake Hughes: "I finally got the experience of driving a Formula 1 car! Some time ago, as part of my ongoing work with McLaren as a simulator pilot, I was honored to get behind the wheel of the MCL60 during the Barcelona tests. The goal was to get an idea of the behavior of a real car, which will further help us improve the simulator, which is located at the team's base in Woking.
There are not enough words to thank McLaren enough for giving me the opportunity to gain experience driving a Formula 1 car! It was a wonderful day that will always be remembered."
