Ayo Komatsu: Montreal race is the 200th for Haas F1
The first race in the history of Haas F1 was Australia’16. Back then, many did not believe that the new team would last at least a couple of seasons, but this week Haas F1 will hold its 200th Grand Prix with cars in the historical coloring of 2014.…
Ayo Komatsu, Team principal: "The team's 200th race will be held in Montreal. Ten seasons in Formula 1 is a long time, it's a milestone that we can all be proud of. Few new teams survive for more than two seasons, they usually disappear without earning points, but we consistently fight in the middle of the peloton and regret when we don't earn points in every race.
We have high goals, we want to be the leaders of the middle group of teams. I really hope that we will celebrate the 200th race with the points we have earned. There is no better place to celebrate than Montreal, a vibrant city with an amazing highway and an incredible atmosphere.
The new products that we tested at Imola allowed us to increase the efficiency of the car at high speeds. It's difficult to give an accurate assessment – all the teams are progressing with each race, so we can't focus solely on competitiveness, but according to the indicators that we measure, everything works.
Will we see the full potential of our car in Montreal? Probably not, because there are no high-speed turns, it all depends on the speed on the straights and acceleration dynamics. But we had a chance to score points in all the races except Melbourne and Jeddah, so there will be one in Montreal."
Oliver Berman: "I've been waiting for the Canadian stage since the beginning of the season. This race often takes place in the rain, there are a lot of chicanes on the track, so it's important to think and act ahead of time.
I haven't raced at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit yet, but when I watched the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix, where Jenson Button won in crazy conditions, I wanted to race here myself.
This Grand Prix will be the 200th for Haas F1, which is a special event for all of us. I am proud to play for this team, where everyone strives for new achievements."
Esteban Ocon: "It's great to spend a couple of weeks away from racing after three Grands Prix in a row to relax and gain strength. I know that the team is looking forward to getting back on track in Montreal, and personally, I'm happy to be back too. The atmosphere in the city is great, the Canadian fans warmly support us, and the race takes place on an interesting, barrier-surrounded track with a complex combination of turns.
The team will host its 200th Grand Prix this weekend, and it's great to have it in North America. I'm proud to be a part of this moment in the team's history, and I hope we have an unforgettable weekend ahead of us."
