Sauber is preparing for the Canadian Grand Prix, hoping to build on the success achieved at the previous stage, when Nico Hulkenberg took 5th place. This is the Swiss team's best result of the season, and its achievement was facilitated by the work on upgrading the C45 chassis.
Jonathan Wheatley, team principal: "We are heading to Montreal with a confident mindset and with valuable information about the performance of our car, which we received during the Barcelona stage.
These data confirm that the changes made to the design of the car have made it possible to increase our competitiveness, but at the same time it is important to remain focused and make the most of every opportunity to earn points.
The Canadian circuit has its own unique requirements, and we must ensure that the new products presented in Barcelona work in Montreal as well, so we have to adapt quickly and keep up with our rivals.
Right now, all attention must be paid to ensuring that the improvements achieved allow us to show a high result on the Canadian stage of the season, so we must act clearly and continue to progress."
Nico Hulkenberg: "We took a step in the right direction in Barcelona. The car was clearly working better, the team showed a well-coordinated approach and achieved the result for which so much effort was spent.
Such weekend results boost the fighting spirit and give extra energy to everyone who works in the pits on the track and at the base in Hinville. Of course, we understand that we have to win back the gap, but we are making important steps forward, and this is encouraging.
The objectives for the upcoming weekend are to continue to work steadily, to do everything right from the very beginning and to strive to increase the level of competitiveness. If we succeed, we can fight for good results in the middle group of teams."
Gabriel Bortoleto: "I am looking forward to the race in Montreal, where I will get to know a new circuit for me. In between races, I worked on the simulator to better understand the limits of the possibilities on the Canadian track.
We returned from Barcelona, having gathered encouraging information about the work of technical innovations and their potential. Judging by the results, we are already closer to the level we want to be at, although there are still a number of steps to be taken along the way.
I should also add that I see good results from Nico, and I want to succeed even more. I'm looking forward to the start of the next race weekend - as always, the most important thing is to stay focused and adapt to any circumstances that may arise, and make the most of every opportunity."
