Imola is upset that they were left without a Formula 1 race

Among the 24 stages included in the preliminary version of the calendar for the 2026 season, released on Tuesday, there is no Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna at the classic circuit in Imola.

Thus, the hopes of the authorities of this region of northern Italy to reach new agreements with the FOM did not materialize, despite the fact that a month ago Michele de Pascale, president of Emilia-Romagna, assured that "this is not a budget issue."

But the fact is that there are no plans to hold a race at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit next year. There is only one Italian stage left on the calendar – the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while two Spanish stages have appeared, although the future race in Madrid does not yet have an officially approved name, but this is another matter.

Of course, Imola is upset about today's news, although the local authorities knew about it in advance, and today Michele de Pascale and Mayor Marco Panieri issued a brief joint statement:

"We were aware of this news. They cause us a feeling of sadness and bitterness, because in recent years our region has proved that it is able to hold great competitions, which is confirmed by record attendance statistics. Our race was one of those that the fans love and appreciate the most."

The Imola Circuit hosted the World Cup from 1980 to 2006, and then, after a 14-year hiatus, five more Grand Prix events were held there from 2020 to 2025.
