Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff considers the team's control over the drivers competing for the title to be one of the important success factors.
Toto Wolff: "Racers from the youth series are taught that everyone is on their own, and a team–mate driving the same car is the main rival. It is difficult to fight this approach. The task of the team is to set the rules, to convey to the riders the principles of "how we will do this."
At first, you can use the argument that a team needs points to compete in the Constructors' Cup, but things get complicated if winning the Cup is already guaranteed.
McLaren has a difficult situation with the drivers, Oscar and Lando have a different character than those drivers who have previously found themselves in this position.
