Alpine confirmed Colapinto's participation at Silverstone.
When Franco Colapinto replaced Jack Duhan behind the wheel of the Alpine, Flavio Briatore said that the Argentine driver had five stages to prove himself and stay on the team. Franco's fifth Grand Prix took place in Austria, and today Alpine confirmed Colapinto's participation in the upcoming British Grand Prix.
Franco Colapinto: "The weekend in Austria was difficult. We made a good step forward between practice and qualifying, but in minimal gap conditions, every little detail matters, and I failed to make it out of Q2.
In the race, there were balance issues with the car, and after contact with a competitor, I lost time and couldn't finish higher than fifteenth.
I'm looking forward to the Silverstone event because last year I sat in the car for the first time during the first practice session on this track. The circuit is one of the most famous on the Formula 1 calendar, and I’m sure every driver enjoys its high speeds and legendary turns.
It's a home race for those working at the Enstone base, so it's nice to spend time with them during the break between races. We are focused on the upcoming race and will continue to progress each weekend."
Pierre Gasly: "The race in Austria was very disappointing for the entire team. We need to analyze and evaluate many things after a very tough Sunday when we fell behind the competitors. On the positive side, our qualifying pace was good, and I confidently made it to the final. However, we still need to understand how to achieve a similar level in the race.
Right now, all our attention is on the home race for the guys from Enstone at Silverstone. The British Grand Prix is always a big event with large attendance. The circuit is historic, and iconic turns like Copse, Maggotts, Becketts, and Stowe make it one of my favorite tracks of the season.
I know there will be many team members in the stands during the weekend who will be able to see the results of their hard work on the track, and I want to reward them with a good show."
