Andrea Stella: I'm proud of how Lando performed.
Andrea Stella, Team Principal of McLaren, is rightly proud of his drivers, who are setting the pace this weekend at the Austrian circuit in Spielberg.
Andrea Stella: "When we analyzed what happened in Canada together with Lando and his engineers, we always noted that we had the speed that weekend as well. He was fighting for pole there too, but clipped the barrier in qualifying. In the race, his car was among the fastest, and Norris had the pace.
Our task is to act more clearly and cohesively; therefore, in preparation for the Austrian round, we made some adjustments in certain areas. I am very proud of how Lando performed today. Not only did he take pole, but he dominated qualifying, setting a very impressive lap time.
It is a bit unfortunate that we didn't see Oscar fight for pole, because he couldn't start his final attempt due to yellow flags.
McLaren's strength is that we are very well-prepared, and our approach is to seize every opportunity to become even stronger and more united. This is exactly the attitude we bring to every discussion within the team. I think you can sense this from our drivers' comments.
I also want to praise all the McLaren staff who worked on the development of technical upgrades that made the car faster. The telemetry data we’re seeing is very encouraging. There are plenty of positives, and tomorrow we have to make full use of them."
