Alan Permain: I was shocked and proud of the appointment.
The upcoming Belgian Grand Prix will be the first event for Alan Permeyn in his role as head of Racing Bulls. In a recent interview, the British specialist discussed the direction in which he plans to develop the Faenza-based team.
"The news of my appointment to the leadership position elicited mixed reactions from me," said Alan Permeyn to British Autosport. "Partly I was in shock, partly proud. It's simply astonishing that Red Bull decided I have the abilities and potential to lead the team.
I am very grateful to the senior management of Red Bull in Austria, Oliver Mintzlaff and Helmut Marko, as well as Laurent Mekies for recommending me for this position, promoting me, and believing in me.
My plan is to leave everything as it is. Laurent and Peter Bayer have done an incredible job over the past 18 months, which has led to a sharp increase in the team’s competitiveness. And my plan is to continue moving in the same direction and stick to the established course.
We have a great team, and I know that the Red Bull leadership is very pleased with our results and level of competitiveness. The goal is to be at the forefront of the midfield. We are already fighting for that and will continue to do so until the end of the year.
As for me personally, the new position means I will be traveling more. As race director, I usually worked in Milton Keynes, but now I will be spending more time in Italy. Most likely, I will be seen more often in Faenza, where the majority of the team is based."
